Kim-Vu Friesen was born and grew up in Vietnam. She earned a Certificate in Literature from the University of Saigon; a B.A. Degree in English; and a M.A. in Counseling from the University of Nebraska. Currently she is a licensed school counselor with the Minneapolis Public Schools. She formerly directed a day treatment program serving refugees and immigrants struggling with mental illness and chemical dependency. Kim has lived and traveled in several foreign countries and has studied seven foreign languages. She has taught Sociology and Affirming Multi-Cultural Education courses at North Central University and Bethel University. A member of Emmanuel Mennonite Church, she also serves on the Executive Board of Mennonite Church USA, the denomination of which Emmanuel Church is a part.
Kim is available to speak on: Affirming Diversity, Asian Cultural Understanding, Cross-Cultural issues working with internationals, Refugees from Southeast Asia (aftermath of the Vietnam War), and Marriage & Family/Parenting issues.
